Work weekend!

Working all weekend night shifts = one tired mom/wife/nurse! I cannot wait until Tuesday morning when I can wake up and feel refreshed again. A brief synopsis of my weekend workout wise:

Saturday-Elliptical 45 minutes, Bike 10 minutes (recummbent bike at gym), Walk outside 35 minutes
Work 12 hours
Sunday-Sleep most of day, homework, and 13 mile bike ride in 45 minutes! Great ride. Nice and peaceful.

I am currently battling some bad stomach problems related to my Celiac's and lymphocytic colitis. I have been having lots of stomachaches. I am really hoping that this week I can get some answers to try to fix this problem and start feeling a bit better, but for now Pepto Bismol will continue to be my friend!

Goals for this week:

1. Have fun with the kids! (Monday-nothing too much, Tuesday-Zoo/Oxbow Park, Wednesday-Lake City swimming/hiking at Frontenac SP, Thursday-I have a school shadowing experience so not much, Friday-Waterpark/campground with in-laws, Saturday-biking in Lanesboro/maybe campground/swimming, Work party, Sunday-shopping and prepping for Duluth trip during week....)

2. Run 12 miles Tuesday at 7:45 pace
Run 2-8 mile runs during the week
    Bike 55 miles
    Daily HIIT 3x
    Ab workout 3x

3. Limit gym time and maximize outdoor time!

Minnesota summers

Today was a great day, although very hot! Olivia and i went for a run around 10 am and it was already 87 degrees and muggy. :( so todays 8 miler was a bit slower than normal with many more water/wipe off breaks! Thankfully we survived and olivia just wanted to talk, talk, talk..... We came home and i mowed lawn.... Another sweat fest!
At the park playing post-run....
My new pair of brooks adrenelines i wore today! I love them just as i did my pair that ive worn for the past month and that now have holes from too much wear!

Olivia swinging on the bars, she is so good at them!
Olivias photography skills.... She wanted me to look like i was running!

After the run, park and lawn mowing i headed to the gym for a bit....i hit up the elliptical and watched some sleepless in seattle! Then did a dailyhiit routine for about 20 minutes! And my legs and abs certainly feel it!

Target was calling my name today so we headed there this afternoon and found some great deals.... Lots of 50-70% off!!! My kind of shopping!
Here is a photo of all the toys i bought (i do have 9, soon to be 10 nieces and nephews)

Well off to bed!! I have 36 hours of night shifts to prepare for, but then 2 more weeks off! I cannot wait!!!

Tired....

Two 12 hr night shifts make me exhausted and tired! But yesterday when i woke up i did have a nice and hot 8 mile walk (kidless!) in 1:30:00. When i woke up today i went for a 16.3 mile bike ride in 1:00:40! I was very happy with my ride.    The rest of the night will be filled with diet coke, more diet coke, homework ( for my msn), reading to the kids, water balloons, pool, supper, and hopefully some tae-bo or bodyrock before bed! Here is my photo of the day.... Well actually 2.... It is the funniest book ever!

Monday Workouts/Work Week

So, I have been off of work since July 4th and it has been awesome! I have had so much fun playing with the kids, swimming, camping, and relaxing. Now, this week is the exact opposite. I work 5-12 hour night shifts...I am going to be exhausted come next Monday morning! However, then I will be off until August 6th! I cannot wait! During that two week vacation we are going to have more fun!

Yesterday's workout consisted of walking with Olivia in the stroller for an hour, 60 minutes on the elliptical and a 22 minute dailyhiit workout. I did change the workout a bit, because some moves for me just do not workout the way they look in their videos...so...

Intervals 10 seconds rest, 30 seconds exercise 35 rounds

Reverse lunge, bicep curl and shoulder press with sandbag

Side Lunge with 15 #dumbbell

Push up to T Right and Left

Sumo squat with sandbag (2 rounds I did with DB and did woodchops, as described on dailyhiit, but I could not get the hang of it so i just did SB sumo squats instead)

V-abs with ball (Large Yoga ball between feet, leg lift, ab lift to get ball, lower ball over head, then back up to get ball with feet)

Row Plank with 10# dumbbells

Up-Down Plank

It was a great way to end my workout!

The best part is I got home from the gym and my hubby was grilling BBQ chicken breasts! Delicious!

Leggings, Running, and Christmas

Happy Friday!

It is such a great day for most, but for me it means 3 nights of work...

Last night the family went to run some errands and we stopped by Old Navy because H needed a new coat. Well, we definetely came home with more than a coat. I bought my first pair of leggings. (I know, I am a bit delayed in the fashion world) But, I have had no idea what you are supposed to wear with them. Do you need a long cardigan over the top? Do you wear a dress over them? I am just kind of lost... But, I bought these leggings and a dress similar to this  I cannot find the exact same dress....Women's V-Neck Sweater DressesWomen's Stretch Leggings

But,  they looked cute at the store and when we got home I tried them on with some knee high brown boots and a brown flower belt and Hubby even thought it looked super cute. He even went on to say it made me look really thin...he knows I will wear it if he says that! Any suggestions for what to wear with leggings?

Running/Exercise:

Last week, the day after I posted I ran 15.8 miles in 2:00:00 while pushing Olivia. I was very happy with that and was not sore the next day, which I was quite surprised about!

I have otherwise just done my normal ~8  miles every other day, walking, biking, and elliptical use at the gym. I am hoping to get out with Olivia this afternoon for either an 8 mile run and a 5 mile walk or a 16  mile run...we will see how my legs feel this afternoon, after I take a nap in a few minutes!

The latest bodyrock workout I did was:

Set timer for 10/50 4 rounds
Crab Toe Touches (I did about 30 each time)
Dive Bombers (I did 9-8)
 (CTT, DB, CTT, DB)

Reset timer for 6R 10/10
Jump Lunges and Mt Climbers (JL,MC,JL,MC,etc.) with no rest in between. (JL~11, MC~15)

Reset again for 10/50 4Rounds
One Leg Hot Attack (One leg squat down, power up, leg back, leg down, switch legs)
Thigh Shrinker exercise (sumo squat, r leg side up, l leg side up, jump up)
(OLHA, TSE, OLHA, TSE)

Reset again for 6R 10/10
JL/Mt Climbers again...whew your legs will be tired and you will so want to quit here, but DO NOT!

You will feel it the next day...I am right now, but really focus on form. You can go to Body Rock and search the above exercises to see proper form, maybe someday i will upload a video!

Christmas...is coming! I cannot believe it! We stopped at Walmart to get a few things and I decided I better let the kids try some bikes out to see what size we will need to buy them, as that will be there gift from SC!

Have a great weekend! Hope you get to do something fun!

Happy Halloween!!!!

Sorry for the lack of posts no posts in the past year….I would like to say it is because I am too busy, but that is not exactly true! I am working, taking care of kids, going to school for my MSN and fitting in time for exercise. So, I really have been busy. I just wish I could find a way to balance all of this and still blog regularly. I also have not run any races since this summer. Even then I only ran 1 or 2…and I won one!

Today at our house we are getting ready for Halloween by making Henrys costume…yep, nothing like waiting until the day of to make the costume! He is going to be a UPS truck and Olivia is going to the the UPS man. She LOVES the UPS man because he brings us shoes…or at least that is what she tells everyone! Clearly, I do a lot of online shoe shopping!

Running as of late has been going pretty good. I had surgery on my bum in September and had to limit running a bit but now I am back to about where I was before. I am still a touch slower, but on Sunday I pushed O in the stroller for an 8.05 mile run in 60 minutes! I was very, very happy with that because it was hilly and windy. I still average about 2 hours a day of exercise. I am trying to incorporate more HIIT into my exercise regimen, but I will say it is a challenge to do that AND run good, strong, long runs.

Here is one of my favorite workouts that makes your legs kill, and they will be sore for a day or two…or three after you complete it.

36 Rounds 10 seconds off and 30 seconds on

Low Jumping Jacks

Right Single Leg Dead Lift (I used a 10# DB in each hand)

Left Single Leg Dead Lift (same as previous)

Jump Lunge (I use no weight for these)

So you do each exercise 9 times…yep! Fun Times!

As an Ab exercise I like these three exercises

Reptile Push Ups

Knee Raises

V-Ups

Often I will do these after a workout like the one above and set my interval timer to 10/50 (10 seconds off 50 secs on) and do each exercise 2 or 3 times….

Hope you all have a great Halloween with your kiddos!

And, I am really going to try to start posting more regularly, so please comment and/or follow so I know who might be reading my blog, because I love to read your blogs!!!
